Dr. Prosper J Kimaro holds Bachelor of Arts with Education degree (2000) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Master of Arts in Project and Rural Development Planning (2004) from the Sokoine University of Agriculture and a PhD in Rural Development Planning (2020) from the Sokoine University of Agriculture. His areas of expertise include: project planning and management, rural sociology, community development planning, project monitoring and evaluation, research methodology, gender and development, poverty analysis, lobbying and advocacy, community intervention skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking and problem solving, rural development, livelihoods, adult training, participatory training needs assessment and development studies as well as research and consultancy.
Dr. Kimaro has 18 years teaching experience at the University. He teaches development studies, extension education, rural development, adult training, conflict resolution, cross-cutting issues, lobbying and advocacy, gender and development, natural resources management and research methodology. Apart from lecturing and administrative duties, Dr. Kimaro has been involved in a number of research projects assignments in livelihoods and rural development, co-operative management, youth participation in agriculture, smallholder coffee farmers, warehouse receipt system, community development, gender and development, community natural resource management and SACCOS management. Dr. Kimaro has also published a number of articles in scholarly reputable journals.
