Mr. Gerald Absanto is a Lecturer, Researcher, and Consultant at MoCU under the Department of Co-operative Development and Management. He is teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Gerald is a visionary leader and dedicated academician with over 16 years of rich experience in teaching, research, consultancy, and community services. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Management at The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha by research and thesis. His academic journey is rooted in a strong foundation with a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from Mzumbe University, Tanzania, and a Bachelor of Arts in Cooperative Management and Accounting from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania.
Professionally, he has played a pivotal role as a Lecturer, Researcher, and a consultant offering consultancy services to donor funded projects to both local and international organizations, including the World Bank, CARE International, SNV, Plan International, African Initiatives, AMDT, Save the Children, Action Aid, WWF, TECDEN, SEMA, TAHA, Rikolto, and Enabel. His professional services have centered around project management, monitoring and evaluation, organisational development, financial management, development finance, entrepreneurship development, business and strategic management, and capacity building. In leadership capacities, he has steered teams towards strategic goals as a leader and shaped governance and policy as a Board Member.
In a managerial capacity, he has directed teams towards strategic objectives, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and managing robust budgets. His role as a board member in various organizations has honed his skills in governance, policy formulation, and strategic decision-making, ensuring ethical integrity and compliance. His commitment to professional growth is evidenced by comprehensive training and practice in Entrepreneurship, Strategic & Business Management, Leadership, and Financial Management.
