John Moshi is currently working at Moshi Cooperative University (MoCU) as a Lecturer, Researcher and Consultant in the Department of Microfinance and Banking (DMB), Faculty of Business and Information Sciences (FBIS). Prior to that, Mr Moshi gained experience in Microfinance by working with Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) in Tabora region for a period of 1 year as a loan officer, and later by USAWA organization in Arusha, Tanzania. These two posts exposed Mr Moshi to practical issues of Microfinance and SACCOS’ operations and he gained firsthand experience on Microfinance and SACCOS services, organizational arrangements, challenges, prospects and opportunities. When he was employed by Moshi Cooperative University, Mr Moshi continued to teach Microfinance and SACCOS related courses offered by the university. He has also been engaged in conducting research on Microfinance and SACCOS. Currently, Mr Moshi is doing a PhD in Microfinance, focusing on Internal Control Systems and Fraud Prevention in Tanzanian SACCOS. In collaboration with the Savings and Credit Cooperatives Union League of Tanzania (SCCULT), Mr Moshi has organized and participated in conducting various trainings on SACCOS across the country. Additionally, Mr Moshi has participated in conducting various consultancies including the Marketing Infrastructure, Value Addition and Rural Finance Project (MIVARF) which was a 5 years project aimed at training SACCOS Board members, Managers, staff and members across the country.
