Welcome to the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). The Department is under the Faculty of Business and Information Sciences (FBIS) and one amongst the five departments of this Faculty. The Department manages both academic and administrative ICT activities in the University.
The Department of ICT has three undegraduate programmes namely Certificate of Information Technology (CIT), Diploma of Business Information and Communication Technology (DBICT) and Bachelor of Science in Business Information and Communication Technology (BSc. BICT). The Department has thus become a source of qualified, skilled and resourceful ICT manpower.
Since ICT is crosscutting, in connection to teaching students in the department, staffs in the ICT department teaches also students from all other departments in the University who are mandatory taking ICTs as a supporting course. There are also ICT short courses (Taylor-Made Programmes) that are hosted by this Department. Moreover, the ICT Department is responsible for carrying out research projects and consultancy services in the field of ICTs.
On the part of Administrative, the ICT Department is concerned with all ICT administrative issues in the University. These include ensuring that all ICTs tools, facilities and services (such as computers, the University website, Internet access, University Information Systems, projectors, etc.) are available, accessible and are in good condition.
Currently the Department has CIT, DBICT and BSc. BICT students in all of their years of study Our alumni in the Department include all students who pursued the CIT, DBICT and BSc. BICT from MoCU and from the former Moshi Co-operative College and Moshi University College of Co-operative and Business Studies (MUCCoBS) under the ICT Department or the former Management and Information Technology (MIT) Department
