Dr.Peter Gonga Shigini is a Lecturer known for having a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Geography & Linguistics) and a Master of Arts in Linguistics obtained from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2011 and 2016, respectively. Having specialized in Linguistics, his areas of expertise include onomastics, second language learning, sociolinguistics, translation, and morphology. With 10 years of experience in teaching different subjects, including English language and Communication Skills, he is currently pursuing a PhD in Linguistics at the University of Dar es Salaam, focusing on onomastics.
His career started in February 2012, when he was employed as a teacher at Mwika Secondary School, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Later, in February 2018, he was employed as an Assistant Lecturer at Moshi Co-operative University. Throughout his career, Peter Gonga Shigini has undertaken two research projects: An Analysis of Errors by Tanzanian Learners of English in their Academic Writing: A Case of Mwika Secondary School, Kilimanjaro Region and A Morphological and Semantic Analysis of Sukuma Personal Names. He has also published five scholarly articles in his areas of expertise, especially onomastics.
Apart from his professional pursuits, Peter Gonga Shigini is passionate about playing football and participating in different sports and games. He believes in sports as a way of living a healthier life, bringing people together, and building strong social ties.
