Mr. Alex J. Ngowi is currently serving as an Assistant Lecturer, Researcher, and Consultant in the Department of Co-operative Development and Management at Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). In this capacity, he imparts knowledge across a spectrum of courses encompassing Co-operatives, Business Planning and Management, Microfinance, Project Planning, Community Development, Consultancy Techniques, Leadership, Business Ethics and Governance, and Research Methods. He is skilled in delivering lectures, preparing, conducting and facilitating trainings, workshops, and seminars, leading and guiding teams, managing timelines, budgets, and resources. Alex is a Ph.D. candidate at MoCU, underscoring his commitment to advancing scholarly pursuits. He holds a Master’s Degree in Co-operative and Community Development (2011-2013) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Co-operative Management and Accounting (2007-2010) from the Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania. His professional credentials include certification as a Professional Banker (CPB) by the Tanzania Institute of Bankers (TIOB).
Alex has been a team leader in various consultancy assignments and research projects. His areas of research include Cooperatives vs. climate Change Resilience and sustainable development, Cooperatives vs. digital Technologies, Youth and Women Empowerment, Solidarity and Inclusive Economy, social entrepreneurship, Climate-Smart Agriculture vs. cooperative Practices, Poverty Reduction, leadership and governance, Innovative Sustainable Financing Models, and Co-operatives Vs Blue and Green Economy. Mr. Alex is proficient in quantitative and qualitative research methods, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. He also has strong writing and verbal communication skills, including report writing, and presentations. Mr. Alex Ngowi brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, having served in key capacities at institutions such as Mount Meru University (Head of Department of Business), Wesley College (Head of Department Community Development and Leadership), Moonshine Training Institute (College Principal), Akiba Commercial Bank (Portfolio Manager), Dunduliza Network Company (Credit analyst) before joining MoCU in January 2015. His diverse professional background underscores his versatility and depth of knowledge in the field.
