Luka Njau is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Community Development and Gender (CDG). He has over 16 years experience of lecturing at University level, conducting research and sharing of research findings. He holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Rural Development and Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education and Extension from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). He has been teaching various courses at the University including Rural Development Strategies, Participatory Approaches, Research Methods, Adult Training Management, Co-operative Extension & Innovation and Agricultural Extension & Education.
Luka Njau has more than fifteen (15) peer reviewed scholarly articles which includes journal articles, book reviews and conference proceedings. His research interests include qualitative research methods, agricultural cooperatives management, gender issues, co-operatives extension & innovation and participatory approaches. Luka Njau has a vast field experience and interactions in developing and facilitation of the interventions related to his areas of interest to various stakeholders at local, national and international levels. At international level, he has been actively engaging in co-facilitation of training to co-operative stakeholders specially the agricultural-based ones using specially attested training tools and methodology designed and facilitated by the International Labour Organization (ILO)-Cooperatives Unity. He has vast experience in promoting group actions and approaches to community development activities and farmers organizations, rural microfinance institutions and group micro enterprises among others.
