Associate Professor


Katundu is an Associate Professor in Rural Development Planning. He holds a PhD and Master of Arts in Rural Development and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Geography and Environmental Studies. Primary fields of research include environment and sustainability; climate change; gender and community driven development; land reform and rural livelihoods; higher education, employability of graduates and capacity building in Africa. Current research: (i) Sustainable Business and Employability through HEIs’ Innovative Pedagogy (SUSIE), project supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. (ii) Potential Impacts of International Land Deals on Food Security in Bagamoyo District, Tanzania. (iii) Nature and Magnitude of Land Acquisitions in Tanzania: Analyzing Role of Different Actors, Key Trends and Drivers in Land Acquisitions. (iv) Socio-Economic Factors Limiting Smallholder Groundnut Production in Tabora Region, Tanzania.
