Somo Seimu is the Associate Professor in the Department of Community Development and Gender at Moshi Co-operative University in Tanzania. He holds a PhD in the history of agricultural marketing cooperatives from the University of Central Lancashire in England, Master of Education – MEd (Cardiff University) and BA with Education (Dar Es Salaam).

His areas of research include agrarian development in Tanzania, agricultural marketing cooperatives, sociology of education, community conflicts and development interventions, indigenous knowledge, climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as African political history.

Professor Seimu has extensively published in his area of expertise and interest in various international journals. He has also authored books and contributed to several book chapters on agricultural marketing and co-operatives in Tanzania. He has also presented papers and published articles in peer reviewed journals on agricultural marketing cooperatives, sociology of education, indigenous knowledge, and climate change adaptation and mitigation at international conferences.

Currently, Professor Seimu is researching and writing on indigenous knowledge on climate change and mitigation, colonial agricultural marketing boards, the role of the colonial state in facilitating the spread and strengthening of Christianity in Tanzania, and the contribution of native authorities in financing the purchase of agricultural crops in Tanzania.
