Alfred S. Sife is a Professor of library and information science at Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Currently, he is serving as the Vice Chancellor of the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). Prior to joining MoCU, Prof. Sife was the Director of the Sokoine National Agricultural Library (SNAL) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) between July 2014 and February 2018. He also served as the Deputy Director of the Institute of Continuing Education at SUA between July 2011 and June 2014. Prof. Sife was the Secretary to the SUA Gender Policy Implementation Committee between May 2006 and December 2014 and he was the Coordinator of Resource Mobilization and Member of Executive Committee of the Consortium of Tanzania Universities and Research Libraries (COTUL) between December 2015 and September 2018. On various occasions, he has assumed other academic and non-academic leadership responsibilities, participated in, and chaired numerous committees.
Prof. Sife began his academic career as Trainee Assistant Librarian at SUA in May 2000 and has since risen to various academic ranks until he became a Library Professor in 2018. He obtained B.Sc. Forestry in 1999 from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) as well as master (2003) and doctorate (2010) degrees in information studies from University of Dar es Salaam. Prof. Sife has made over 60 scholarly contributions including journal articles, conference papers, book chapters, reviews and other writings (see his Google scholar profile nyurl.com/scholarSife). His research, teaching and consultancy interests center mainly on ICT4D, scientometrics and bibliometrics, e-resources, information literacy, records management, systems analysis and design, and research methods. He has supervised, mentored and examined numerous undergraduate, masters and doctoral research projects.
